I have a number of concerns about both the day 3 and day 5 biopsies demonstrated here. Two very different biopsy pipettes (beveled pipette is rather large) with two very different types of zona opening are used; but in both cases, the operator pushes the pipette all the way to the 9 o'clock position to remove a cell, in the process, disrupting the organization of the cells and in my view causing 'trauma'. The blastocyst biopsy is quite inconsistent, removing a wide range of cells - anywhere between 5 and what looks like more than 20 cells from one embryo! The laser is used to cut rather than to create a perforation along which mechanical separation may be achieved by pulling. So all in all, I think these skills need improvement. Nonetheless, I am voting to pass the candidate, assuming that these corrections will be made.
